Save time. Meal Plan!

Save time. Meal Plan!

Save time, Meal Plan!

Meal planning is a huge headache saver for me. I dedicate some time on Fridays to planning the following weeks meals. There are many ways to meal plan, you can plan all 3 meals and snacks 7 days a week or choose which plans that work with your life and schedule. Usually I plan the dinners throughout the week because I know that when we will all be home together. You can meal plan anyway you like. Planning your meals ahead will save you time throughout your week, money, you will eat healthier, and be less stressed. Give it a try, it just might change your life!

Meal planning saves you time because you know what to expect throughout the week. One thing I consider is my schedule. There are days I’m taking my daughter to after school activities and I know I won’t have the time to cook an elaborate meal, so I choose something quick for that day. You can make your meal plan specific to your needs and schedule. Also, you will have everything on hand already to make each meal.

There are several ways meal planning can also help you save money. Since you have a plan you are not making multiple trips to the grocery store. When you start going to the grocery store on a weekly basis according to your meal plan and grocery list you don’t tend to over buy as you would going more often.  Another way to save when meal planning is to look through the ads to see what is on sale and in season and build your plan around those items.

You will be eating and cooking at home which is always healthier. Prepackaged foods have a lot of junk our bodies don’t need and when we eat from restaurants we don’t always know what ingredients were used to make our food. Restaurants tend to use a lot of extra fats and sodium to enhance the flavor of the food. I like knowing exactly what I am eating. Meal planning helps you cut down on the eating out. Also, when you meal plan you are more likely to have a variety of different meals and offering valuable nutrition from different ingredients you use throughout the week.

Planning ahead for anything makes life less stressful especially with how busy we are these days. Waiting till the last minute to make dinner creates unnecessary stress. Grocery stores at 5pm when everyone is off work is stressful. Or we end up going to the nearest drive thru to cut out the stress, but then were eating unhealthy again. Best to avoid that craziness and plan ahead.

Here's a sample of my dinner meal plan for this week. We leaving for vacay so its a bit shorter than usual. Normally its through Saturday, but to give you an idea.

Sunday - Chicken Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce

Monday - Kale Broccoli Buddha Bowl with Miso dressing

Tuesday - Asian Kale Salad with an Asian Vinaigrette

Wednesday -Vietnamese Rice Noodle Salad with Nuoc Cham Dressing

Even the most unorganized of people can still find the time to meal plan. It’s just takes a little time and thought. Write down some of your favorite meals and ask your family members for input to get you started. Saving your meal plans can also help you with future meal planning. We are all juggling many of things at once and meal planning can make your life a little bit simpler.

I am currently in the process of creating healthy salad meal plans for purchase. I’ll let you know when it is up and ready to go. In the meantime, if you need help meal planning or have questions on meal planning let me know, I’m happy to help!
