Seasonal Produce: June

Seasonal Produce: June

June completely snuck up on me. With the school year ending and summer beginning, I totally forgot to post this valuable list of in-season produce for June.

In the US we are accustomed to getting a lot of produce year around, but it might not always be the best tasting or most abundant if it’s a fruit or vegetable you really enjoy. Buying in-season will get you the best value and best tasting fruit and vegetables.

Try finding a local farm you can go to pick your own produce. We have plans to go blueberry this month and it can be a fun family activity or a nice meditative activity . Click here to find a local pick-your-own farm. The farmers market is a great way to shop too.

Here is a list of some things grown from the earth in-season for June. The fruits and vegetables will vary depending on your part of the world.

  • Arugula
  • Asparagus
  • Beets
  • Blueberries
  • Bok Choy
  • Broccoli
  • Broccoli rabe
  • Cabbage
  • Cactus
  • Cardoons
  • Celeriac
  • Cucumbers
  • Eggplant
  • Fava Beans
  • Figs
  • Green Beans
  • Green Garlic
  • Kale
  • Lettuce
  • Melons
  • Mustard Greens
  • Nectarines
  • Nettles
  • Okra
  • Peaches
  • Peas
  • Plums
  • Summer Squash
  • Sweet Corn
  • Tomatillos
  • Tomatoes

I see some delicious salad ingredients here! We are so lucky to have so many options in the summer.

It's also the perfect time of year to start canning your fresh produce so you can enjoy these fruits and veggies all year round. Ive never canned vegetables, but I'll willing to give it a try!

Much Salad Love,
